Anxiety doesn’t have to take the driver seat of your life.

You want to appear like you have it all together, but deep down anxiety is always letting you know it’s there. You’ve tried everything from therapy to self-help hacks, but still find yourself overwhelmed, feeling exhausted, and wanting to run away from everything and everyone, including yourself.

You’re tired of feeling caught in this cycle:

  • Spending precious time with your family, your children, gets ruined by the constant worry of things you need to do.

  • You finally get a moment to yourself to “relax”, but you are replaying scenarios in your mind, finding ways to “fix” and “find solutions” to your problems.

  • You have a hard time focusing, being relaxed, or staying present.

  • When the racing thoughts are not playing in the background, you are “checked out” and shutdown.

  • By the time you are ready to go to sleep, the exhaustion doesn’t help you fall asleep. Or worse, you wake up in the middle of the night and take a long time to go back to sleep.

You are ready to make a change and be in the drivers seat of your life!

My approach to anxiety therapy

  • Anxiety shows up when its in a constant state of fight/flight/freeze or shutdown, when it’s perceiving a life or death situation. The body doesn’t feel safe.

We start teaching your body safety. We begin to learn your nervous system pattern so that you know how and when to support it.

Learning body-led tools to regulate is key for reducing symptoms of anxiety.

Here we spend a lot of time tracking, noticing, feeling, with simple practices.

  • As your body is feeling into more safety, we start learning the parts that show up as anxiety. When we get curious, without overwhelm, we get to learn their specific needs that drive them to do the behaviors that keep you stuck.

We build your tolerance to relate to these parts, so that stress and trauma resolution happens.

On the other side of this body recovery or release, you may receive clarity, insight, and how to move forward with your life.

  • With the skills you have learned, you will start noticing where your capacity is, how to support it, and when to move at the edge of discomfort for growth and pursuing your goals, without overwhelming your body.

Embodiment means that you have space to notice what’s happening. It’s radically accepting where you are, feeling it, and being present. It also means resting and integrating what you’ve gone through.

Healing happens when we learn to listen and support the body.

In this work, you will learn to cultivate a deep relationship with your nervous system, your mind, and inner self. The somatic tools you will learn will allow you to support more nervous system regulation and create more space in your body to process stuck patterns that have been waiting to be felt and resolved.

We will learn how to listen to your body and create a life based on your capacity, while gently expanding it. Doing so, helps to reduce overwhelm (as result of anxiety), ability to process it better, and do things that you’ve been too afraid to do. This work will help in honoring your boundaries, speaking your truth, and feeling more at ease and safe in your body.

Methods used

  • Stress, shock, and trauma shows up in the nervous system and it’s dysregulation impacts your life. Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a gentle, body-oriented therapeutic model, that supports completion of self-protective responses and help with release of thwarated survival energy in the body.

By doing so, it address symptoms of trauma. This approach guides the client to slowly to develop an increase tolerance for difficult sensations and suppressed emotions, and works with completing the defensive responses that were once stuck, thus brining resolution to the nervous system.

  • We take an Internal Family Systems-Informed approach (aka Parts Work). This is a self inquiry approach to get to know the parts of you that protect you, and can get in the way of what you truly want. We help release the burdens they carry from the past, so they learn a new way of living. Doing so, you increase self compassion and self trust.

  • We address how nutrition contributes to your stress and what supports recovery. Although it’s not a main topic, we do discuss small steps on adding healthy nutrition to help with stress recovery.

Common questions about therapy for anxiety

  • Effective therapy happens when you feel comfortable enough with the therapist, and you put in the work too. That is why the free consultation give you a chance to meet me and ask any questions that you may have, and get a vibe check too.

My approach to therapy is body-led, with a mind and spiritual approach. We use simple yet effective tools to help you navigate triggers and stressors in your day.

  • Every person is unique and the time it takes depends on the nervous system capacity, how you apply the tools learned, and frequency of the therapy sessions. Some clients, when they’ve applied what they’ve learned, can start seeing results in 2 months - 6 months; however, some take longer than a year.

  • This is a normal concern. That is why I work with a body-first approach, so we go at a slower pace. Throughout therapy, we agree to pause whenever we see signs that its too much.
