Therapy for Trauma
Heal the past to move forward with the happiness you deserve.
The Past Doesn’t Need To Steal Your Joy
You are fighting a silent battle inside - the memories you want to erase, feeling on edge, guarded. You are tired of this aching feeling inside.
Your mind is constantly busy fighting off the memories. You keep busy because you tell yourself “there are better things to do than to think about the past”. Yet, you are irritable, and it’s starting to show.
It’s hard to relax and be present. You struggle to concentrate because the thoughts keep racing. Life can feel like too much. You shutdown and zone out. You are exhausted and think that sleep would help. But, you are frustrated that your mind is awake, finding it hard to fall and stay asleep.
Trauma can impact many areas of your life.
-
Trauma is built up stress held in the body. Creating constant cycle of stress that never gets a chance to release. This can impact your overall health.
-
We might take things more personally than they need to be.
This may stem from unresolved trauma from the past, that our bodies still remember, and get projected into the present.
For example, our boss might remind us of a family member we didn’t get along with as a child. Or our feelings of worry or overwhelm, can impact work performance too.
-
You might be in a relatively safe place, but you feel hypervigilant of your surroundings, finding it hard to be present and calm.
You know it has to do with a painful experience in the past that makes it hard to enjoy where you are now.
-
You may find yourself guarded. Hard to trust others and let them in. Others can feel you at arms length. You want to be closer, but you find it hard to do so.
Maybe it’s hard to set healthy boundaries. You people please to avoid conflict.
How we’ll work together
Helping you feel joy again without rehashing the past.
My intention is to equip you with the knowledge and the practice of relating to yourself. To become your own inner-healer no matter what happens in your life.
You will receive:
Clarity on your goals and what drains you, so you let go of what depletes your energy.
Proven tools and strategies to recover from trauma, so you use your energy for the things that matter the most.
A customized plan, so when life gets hard, you trust yourself that you can move through it.
Clients often share that they feel little to no feelings about the event that used to cause so much pain in their lives.
They have more happiness in their lives. They get along with those they love. They build a life that feels good and stays that way.
We will take a body, mind, spirit approach.
Research shows that trauma lives in our bodies. The way to heal, is by teaching our bodies to get out of survival mode, and into living a life you thrive. When we don’t, stress affects our health, relationships, and overall lives. We use proven methods to help you release stress by using Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems-Informed.

This time, it will be different
We've been taught that talking out our traumas, will make us feel better. But it actually keeps us trapped in the same cycle of fears and pain.
Therapy with me is different because you get to learn how to go beyond just coping and talking-out-your-problems, which traditional therapy does.
Here, there’s a body-first approach to tending to your body, so you can support it for more ease and balance.
This type of therapy is tailored to who you are — culturally sensitive, intuitive, and honoring your nervous system.
This is slow, sacred process, where there’s no fixing.

I am NOT the right therapist for you if…
You are in a crisis and need immediate, high-level support before starting therapy.
You deal with active addiction or substance use that needs specialized, in-person care.
You prefer traditional talk therapy, rather than hands-on, body-based work.
You want a therapist to tell you what to do, rather than work together as a team.

Every person is unique and the time it takes depends on the nervous system capacity, how you apply the tools learned, and frequency of the therapy sessions. Some clients, when they’ve applied what they’ve learned, can start seeing results in 2 months - 6 months; however, some take longer than a year.
-
It’s recommended to come to therapy when you have the time and ability to do the work, so that way you can experience the results. It’s okay if now is not the right time. Come back when you are ready.
